Frequently Asked Questions
Why choose Bene?

Bene has provided residential aged-care and community-care services of the highest quality standards for over four decades.

Our not-for-profit status (your reassurance of our continuing commitment to our community), our dedicated and hardworking staff, our respect for our elders, and our love of family and the Italian influenced home-style cooking make Bene the name to remember.

Are there any activities on offer at the residential sites?

Yes there are a range of daily activities to choose from and your level of participation is always your choice. Also, during the year, we host many events, where residents, their families and friends can join together in celebration and we also fully respect and support our residents’ religious beliefs.

Do you have to be Italian to be a part of Bene?

No. Every year we help over 2500 senior South Australians, many – not surprisingly – of Italian heritage.  Importantly though, we’re not just for Italians – instead anyone who likes ‘Italian-style’ is welcome to take advantage of our services.

In fact, a number of our clients and residents (not to mention our staff and volunteers) already come from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds.

English is not my first language, will this be an issue when applying?

Packages and assistance are specifically created to help those from a culturally or linguistically diverse background.

How do I become a volunteer with Bene?

Volunteering is a rewarding and satisfying activity that gives joy both ways. Please contact Bene on 8424 6000 to register your interest. All volunteers are welcomed and integrated with trained workers to provide high quality services.

How do I obtain a Home Care Package?

Bene provides a range of Home Care Services to people living in their own home.  This includes Home Care packages and a range of independent services as required.  To qualify for government supported packages you will need to be assessed as eligible by an Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT).

For more information about all of  your in-home care options please call us on 8131 2000.

How many residential sites does Bene have and where are they located?

Bene has three conveniently located, comfortable, well-appointed facilities in the Adelaide metropolitan area offering accommodation to age-in-place. The Italian Village located in St Agnes, Bene Domus Operosa at Burton and Bene Campbelltown located right in the core of the Campbelltown community.

What options are available if I am not ready to leave my own home?

We understand how important it is, for those who are still able, to remain in their own homes for as long as possible. Bene Community Services offer a thoughtful and comprehensive range of respite, care and support programs encompassing both in-home and centre-based services for the aged as well as their carers.

Then as individual needs change, it’s reassuring to know that you can move into any one of our residential aged care communities.

What type of services are available in a Home Care package?
